Plot Summary

Tukaram Marathe (Shreyas Talpade) is a farmer from Maharashtra who arrives in Agra with his wife Sundari (Manjari Fadnis) and daughter Radha. He sets up a tent outside the Taj Mahal and declares that the land belongs to his family and he wants it back. He says that he has letters from Emperors Humayun and Akbar that prove his claim. He also starts a hunger strike until his demand is met.

The media covers his protest and creates a sensation. The authorities are baffled by his claim and try to remove him from the site. They send the jail minister Visarjan Yadav (Hemant Pandey) to negotiate with him, but he fails to convince him. The chief minister (Rajesh Sharma) also intervenes, but Tukaram does not budge. The case goes to court, where Tukaram presents his letters as evidence. The letters are tested and found to be authentic.

The court orders the government to give Tukaram an alternative land of his choice in exchange for the Taj Mahal land. Tukaram randomly selects a land in Gujarat, which turns out to be owned by a powerful industrialist named Rameshwar Singh (Rakesh Shrivastav). Rameshwar is not willing to give up his land and tries to bribe, threaten, and kill Tukaram. However, Tukaram manages to escape his attacks and exposes his illegal activities.

In the end, Tukaram reveals that he was not actually a farmer, but an undercover agent of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). He says that he staged the whole drama to expose the corruption and nexus between the politicians, bureaucrats, and businessmen. He also says that the letters were fake and he had planted them in the archives. He says that he wanted to show the people how their heritage and resources are being exploited by the powerful. He also says that he chose Rameshwar's land because he was involved in many scams and crimes.

The movie ends with Tukaram receiving a medal of honor from the president of India for his bravery and honesty.
